South Ossetian, North Ossetian Leaders Meet in Vladikavkaz

South Ossetian and Russia’s North Ossetain leaders, Eduard Kokoity and Teimuraz Mamsurov, respectively, have held talks.

According to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee, the South Ossetian and North Ossetian leaders met in Vladikavkaz on July 16 to discuss the current situation in the breakaway region.

The implementation of measures on boosting economic trade and cultural ties between the two regions and the coordination of cross border state structures were high on the agenda, according to the report.

After the meeting, both leaders stressed the important stabilizing role Russian peacekeeping troops play in the conflict zone.
