Chief of Police of Tbilisi-based S.Ossetia Administration Sacked
Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration, sacked Jemal Karkusov, who served as interior minister within the administration.
The administration’s press office said in a statement that the decision was made after “the serious financial wrongdoings” had been revealed in the interior ministry of the administration.
The administration, which was set up by Tbilisi in 2007 and it was formally in charge of the territories within breakaway South Ossetia, which were controlled by the Georgian side before the August war. The administration headquarters was located in the Georgian-controlled village of Kurta, but since the August war it is based in Tbilisi.
