Tbilisi Resumes Unilateral Demilitarization in S. Ossetia

The Georgian authorities have decided to resume the unilateral demilitarization of the South Ossetian conflict zone, envisaging the destruction of fortifications on the territories controlled by the Georgian side, Georgian officials said at a meeting with representatives of the OSCE Mission in Georgia on April 27.

?The representatives of the OSCE Mission noted that undoubtedly this was a positive step and regreted that the Tskhinvali regime didn’t reciprocate. The direct obligation of the OSCE Mission is to observe such processes in the region and it will be done in due course,? a statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry reads.

The sides also discussed the implementation of economic rehabilitation projects in the South Ossetian conflict zone, as well as prospects for cooperation on border issues.
