Tbilisi, Tskhinvali Exchange Accusations over Shooting

A Georgian checkpoint near the village of Nikozi in the South Ossetian conflict zone came under fire on April 26.  There were no casualties, the Office of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues reported.

Meanwhile, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee confirmed on April 27 that the incident took place. However, it claimed that shots were fired from the Georgian village of Nikozi at South Ossetian checkpoints near the village of Gudjabauri.

The Command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces stationed in the South Ossetian conflict zone has already condemned the incident “as a rough violation of the ceasefire agreement,” according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.
