Tskhinvali Condemns Creation of South Ossetian Administration

The Parliament of breakaway South Ossetia has condemned Tbilisi?s plans for the creation of a provisional administrative unit in the breakaway region, saying that ?such actions aggravate Georgian-Ossetian relations.?

?The so called alternative president, alternative government and provisional administrative entity are illegal? Nevertheless, the Georgian leadership tries to legitimize these puppet entities?and to present them as an alternative to the official South Ossetian authorities, as a force which aspires to preserve South Ossetia within the Georgian state,? a statement issued by the South Ossetian Parliament on April 13 reads.

The South Ossetian Parliament also claimed that the tense situation in the breakaway region had the potential to turn violent, which in turn could complicate the situation in the entire Caucasus region.

Such developments, the statement went on, would ultimately pose a threat to Russia?s national security interests.

The Georgian Parliament adopted a law on creating a provisional administrative entity in South Ossetia on April 13.

The entity aims at creating tools, which will help to resolve the conflict peacefully, to define the region?s autonomous status and to prepare for democratic elections, according to the draft legislation.
