Two Georgian servicemen have been killed in a clash with South Ossetian forces, OSinform news agency, which is run by the breakaway region?s state television station IR, reported on March 25.

The incident took place near the village of Didmukha, less than 20 kilometers away from the breakaway region?s capital, Tskhinvali, on March 25, according to this report.

Conflicting accounts of what happened exist.

According to the South Ossetian side, the clash erupted when Ossetian militiamen stumbled upon a squad of Georgian saboteurs.

Georgian authorities, however, claim that two Georgian policemen were killed when their vehicle was attacked by South Ossetian militiamen. Officials in Tbilisi said that the vehicle was ambushed while conducting a routine patrol on a road between the villages of Nikozi and Avnevi.
