New Chief of Air Forces Appointed
Colonel David Nairashvili has been appointed as Commander of the Georgian Air Forces replacing Alan Lakoev, the Georgian Defense Ministry reported on March 22.
Colonel Nairashvili has served on various positions at the Defense Ministry since 1992. He also was the Deputy Chief of General Staff.
No reasons behind the reshuffle are reported but it comes after a Georgian army helicopter MI-24 Hind crashed overnight on March 12 in the Dusheti District of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, as a result of which three-member crew onboard died.
The investigation over this incident is still underway, according to the Georgian Defense Ministry.
