Official: Abkhaz ‘Criminal Suspect’ Arrested

Georgian police arrested ethnic Abkhazian Albert Shakaia in the western Georgian city of Zugdidi for illegal possession of arms, Tornike Kilanava, an official from the Tbilsi-backed Abkhaz government-in-exile, said on March 10.

The official said that Shakaia is, as he put it, “a notorious criminal Abkhaz linked with banditry and kidnappings.”
