Russian Official Comments on Georgian Wines, Mineral Waters
Russia?s chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onishchenko said on February 12 that the Georgian side has not submitted any proposals for resuming imports of its wines and mineral waters to Russia.
He also said that Russia will first consider discussing the possible resumption of Borjomi mineral water imports if a relevant appeal is made by the Georgian side.
?If they [the Georgian side] apply to us, we will discuss their proposals. But, first of all, this concerns mineral water Borjomi,? Gennady Onishchenko said at a news briefing in Moscow.
Russia banned the import of Georgian mineral waters and wines last spring, citing health safety concerns.
