Burjanadze Hails Putin-Saakashvili Talks as ?Important?
Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, who is currently visiting Latvia, hailed the meeting between Georgian and Russian Presidents, Mikheil Saakashvili and Vladimir Putin respectively, as ?very positive and important.?
?It would be naive to think that by this single meeting all the problems would have been solved. But the fact that the Presidents exchanged opinions about the most painful issues and clarified their positions is already very important,? Burjanadze told reporters.
President Saakashvili said on November 29 that he had ?a useful conversation? with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Minsk on November 28.
The Russian press reported on November 29 that the two Presidents had a brief conversation, which was dominated by mutual accusations.
