S.Ossetia Tightens Security Ahead of ‘President’ Inauguration

Authorities in breakaway South Ossetia said they will tighten security on the eve of the Eduard Kokoity’s presidential inauguration ceremony, which will take place in the Tskhinvali region on November 25, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
 
Secessionist authorities also said that “the Georgian special services are plotting various provocative actions” ahead of innauguration. Similar allegations were voiced by officials in Tskhinvali ahead of the November 12 referendum and elections.
 
“As many guests are expected to arrive in South Ossetia on November 25, we plan to introduce strict passport-visa rules on the borders in order to guarantee their security,” read a statement form the breakaway region’s Interior Ministry as quoted by the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.
 
Meanwhile, Dimitri Sanakoev, who won the so-called alternative presidential elections in South Ossetia, will reportedly hold his inauguration on November 23.
