German, U.S. Diplomats Visit Abkhazia

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Germany Gernot Erler and German Ambassador to Georgia Patricia Hildegard Flor held talks with Abkhaz Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba on November 15 in Sokhumi, Apsnypress news agency reported.

The German Deputy Foreign Minister, as a representative of the country that will hold the EU Presidency after Finland, said that the European Union is interested in quick settlements for the conflicts in the South Caucasus.

In a separate report Apsnypress news agency said that representatives from the U.S. Embassy to Tbilisi are also visiting the breakaway region to get acquainted with the human rights situation on the ground for the US’s annual report on Georgia.
