North Ossetian Leader Visits Tskhinvali
The head of Russia?s North Ossetian Republic, Teimuraz Mamsurov, visited breakaway South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on November 4 and hailed the upcoming independence referendum in the unrecognized republic as an expression of ?the Ossetian people?s self-determination,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
During the visit Mamsurov attended a meeting that took place in Tskhinvali between South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity and ?society representatives? to discuss the November 12 presidential elections and independence referendum.
Kokoity once again condemned what he called the Tbilisi-backed alternative presidential polls, which aim to, as he put it, ?divide the Ossetian people.?
