Foreign Diplomats Briefed over Draft Constitutional Amendments
Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Manjgaladze met with foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia on October 30, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
Manjgaladze briefed diplomats on President Saakashvili’s draft amendments and additions to the Georgian Constitution.
The draft amendments, proposed by President Saakashvili, would set new dates for parliamentary and presidential elections, along with a new date for elections in the Adjara Autonomous Republic?s legislative body. The proposed amendments also envisage a slight reduction in the President’s power.
