Saakashvili Asks Lithuania to Discuss Georgia at EU-Russia Summit
President Saakashvili asked Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus to raise the issue of Russo-Georgian relations at the summit of the EU leaders with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Lahti, Finland on October 20, the Lithuanian President?s press office reported.
Valdas Adamkus, who is currently attending an informal summit of the EU leaders in Finland, held a telephone conversation with his Georgian counterpart.
?President Saakashvili asked President Adamkus to express a more active EU position towards Russia?s economic blockade on this South Caucasian state,? the Lithuanian President?s press office reported.
According to the same report, President Adamkus expressed hope that the EU leaders take into consideration Georgia?s request for support, adding that issues related to Georgia will be high on the agenda during the EU-Russia summit.
