Saakashvili Cancels Moscow Visit
President Saakashvili will not visit Moscow on July 21-22 as it was initially scheduled, Giorgi Arveladze, Chief of the President?s Administration said on Friday.
?I confirm that the visit is postponed, but the Foreign Ministry will make a comment on this issue,? Giorgi Arveladze said at a news conference and declined to further elaborate on the issue.
In Moscow, Saakashvili wanted to hold bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on a sideline of an information summit of CIS leaders.
Georgia dispatched its Deputy Foreign Minister Merab Antadze to Moscow on July 19 to arrange the meeting between the two Presidents, but it is most likely that Tbilisi failed to convince the Russian side on bilateral talks between the leaders, which became a reason for Saakashvili?s refusal to visit Moscow for CIS informal summit.
