Putin: G8 to Discuss Conflicts

President Putin said that a summit of G8 leaders will discuss issues related with the conflicts in Georgia and added that Russia is concerned with the South Ossetia tensions.

?I am sure we will talk about entire post Soviet space, especially about those problematic issues, where there is no calm yet. When I said today [at a joint news conference with the U.S. President] that we [Putin and Bush] have talked about conflicts in our neighboring countries, I have to tell you frankly that we have been talking mainly about Georgia,? Putin said while speaking with reporters later on July 15.

?I am sure and I will repeat once again, that during tomorrow?s and day after tomorrow?s discussions [at the G8 summit] issues related with the post Soviet space will be somehow discussed,? the Russian President added.

He also commented on the situation in the South Ossetian conflict zone and said that Russia is concerned about tensions there.

?Situation is tense and unfortunately it is not defusing. We would like our Georgian partners, friends to find kind of interactions with their South Ossetian brothers so that to prevent incidents of this kind,? Putin said.
