Saakashvili Hails Talks with Bush as ?Historic?

President Saakashvili said after talks with U.S. President George W. Bush in Washington on July 5 that the meeting was ?historic? and ?the Georgian people will see its results soon.?

?I would say that my meeting with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin in St. Petersburg was very important, while the today?s meeting [in Washington] was absolutely historic for Georgia? The United States supports Georgia in its struggle for freedom and this is most important, what I achieved at the White House today,? Saakashvili told Geogian reporters.
 
He also noted that he discussed with his American counterpart the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts, energy issues and ?all those problematic issues, which are very important for Georgia?s future.?

On July 5 Georgian President also held talks with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. President Saakashvili will meet U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on July 6.
