Georgia Pushes for Trans-Caspian Pipe at Energy Conference

Speaking at an international conference on Eurasian Energy Security in Tbilisi on June 20, President Saakashvili called for an active development of the new energy transit routes.


He stressed importance of development of the Trans-Caspian and Black Sea-bed pipeline projects to ship Central Asian hydrocarbons to the western markets via Caucasus and Ukraine.

Officials from Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, United States, as well as representatives of BP, Shell and other companies gathered in Tbilisi to participate in the conference ? Eurasian Energy Security ? Market Access and Investment Policy ? which is held on June 20-21.
