Georgia Eyes Iraq’s Economic Projects
Georgian Economy Minister Irakli Chogovadze is paying a two-day visit to Turkey to participate in the Iraq International Fair – Expo Gateway to Iraq 2006 – which will be held in the city of Gaziantep on 7-11 June.
According to the Georgian Economy Ministry, Chogovadze will hold talks with Kursad Tuzmen, the Turkish Minister of State in charge of Foreign Trade, on the sidelines of the fair to discuss the details of Georgia’s participation in Iraq’s economic projects. The issue of exporting Georgian water to Iraq is expected to also be discussed, according to the Economy Ministry.
Georgia has over 850 troops stationed in Iraq, making Georgia one of the most significant contributors to the coalition forces in terms of a country’s per capita troop deployment.
