Advocacy Group Suspects Foul Play in Office Robbery

The ethnic minority advocacy group Multinational Georgia said on Wednesday that a robbery at its office in Tbilisi during the early hours of June 7 could have been linked to its activities in preparing an alternative report about ethnic minority rights in Georgia.

In a statement the group said that thieves stole only computer hardware containing important documents to the organization, while rest of “the expensive equipment” in the office, as well as money, was not stolen.

?In recent weeks the organization was contacted several times by representatives of various state structures, who requested certain documents and, in particular, an alternative report on the ethnic minorities in Georgia over which Multinational Georgia has been working recently. This report was designed to be sent to the UN and Council of Europe,? Multinational Georgia said in a statement.
