State Minister Upbeat about Saakashvili-Putin Talks
Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava said on June 6 that a breakthrough in the process of resolving the South Ossetian conflict may be the result of the forthcoming talks between the Georgian and Russian Presidents, scheduled for June 13.
?We all expect that principled decisions will be accepted on June 13 [the talks between the two Presidents]. There are all the preconditions for this… We expect Russia to use its great potential in respect to the peaceful resolution of the conflicts existing on the territory of Georgia,? Khaindrava told reporters.
?I think that one political decision will be enough to move the process forward and to achieve results which will equally satisfy both the Ossetians and the Georgians. Moreover, Russia?s position will be protected as well,? the Georgian State Minister added.
Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze once again called on the parliamentarians on June 6 to refrain from making any radical and tough statements regarding Russia and to show more ?diplomacy? ahead of the upcoming Putin-Saakashvili talks.
