Russian Senior Senator Warns Georgia over CIS
Chairman of the Council of Federation of Russia Sergey Mironov said on May 26 that Georgia will lose economic preferences in case of quitting the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Interfax and RIA Novosti news agency reported.
The Chairman of the Council of Federation stressed that each country has the right to make a decision about its participation in any international organization, however “Georgia should weigh the advantages and disadvantages before making a decision.”
“We do not welcome such an intention, discussions and furthermore, real actions,” Sergey Mironov said, adding the decision about quitting the organization will, first of all, hit the country’s economy and population.
