Russian PM Comments on Georgia’s Possible Withdrawal from CIS

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said on May 19 while commenting on Georgia’s possible withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that Russia does not hold anyone in the organization against their will, Interfax news agency reported.

“However, we have not heard such statements from top officials yet,” Fradkov told reporters in Minsk.

The Russian Prime Minister also stressed that “this resource [CIS] has not been exhausted and we support the maintenance of the Commonwealth.”
