Ex-Estonian PM Becomes Saakashvili’s Aide for Reforms
Former Prime Minister of Estonia Mart Laar will become Georgian President Saakashvili’s aide for reform issues, the Estonian Postimees reported.
“I will be in charge of coordinating the activities of various Georgian ministries in implementing reforms,” Mart Laar told Postimees, according to the RIA Novosti news agency.
The former Prime Minister said that starting from late May he would periodically travel to Tbilisi.
Presently, Mart Laar is a parliamentarian, though he twice held the position of Estonian Prime Minister – from 1992-1994 and 1999-2002. Recently he was awarded the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty.
Georgian State Minister Kakha Bendukidze is in charge of coordination reforms in Georgia.
