Two Non-Partisan MPs Join Opposition Boycott
Two Non-partisan MPs Lasha Narchemashvili and Gocha Pipia announced on April 11 that they will join 37 opposition parliamentarians in their boycott of parliamentary sessions.
MPs Pipia and Narchemashvili signed a memorandum saying that the opposition lawmakers refuse to attend the parliamentary sessions and parliamentary bureau sittings unless the authorities meet their demands, which include the resignation of Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili, the creation of new election administrations by political parties on a parity basis and direct elections of city mayors and regional governors.
The memorandum is now signed by 36 MPs from the New Rights, Industrialists and Democratic Front (which unites MPs from the Republican and Conservative parties) parliamentary faction, one MP from the Labor Party and two non-partisan MPs.
?I think that demands listed in this memorandum reflect the opinion of the majority of our society,? MP Narchemashvili said after signing the document.
