Zourabichvili Denies Merger with Opposition Parties
Leader of the newly created political party Georgia’s Way, ex-Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili reiterated on March 24 that her party does not intend to merge with any opposition parties.
“We should continue our way. If we are being established as a party, we should be established firstly. This is a serious decision and needs much work,” Salome Zourabichvili said at a news briefing on March 24.
She said that the disputes over the opposition’s consolidation are unacceptable, adding that the opposition is strong in a democratic state, when it is diversified.
“The opposition is strong, when it is diversified, when there are one, two, three strong parties with different ideology, capable to attack the authorities, instead of artificially consolidated opposition, which is attacked by the authorities,” Zourabichvili said.
