MFA Condemns Arrest of Opposition Protesters in Minsk
The Georgian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the arrests of opposition protesters in Minsk late on March 24 and expressed full solidarity with the Belarus people.
In a statement issued on March 24 the Georgian Foreign Ministry claims that “the use of force by the Belarusian security forces towards the peaceful protesters demonstrates once more the unwillingness and inability of the country’s leadership to live and act in accordance with the standards of modern civilized world.”
“The actions of the punitive forces demonstrated the internal weakness of the authoritative and outdated Belarus regime. We still hope that the country’s leadership will understand that the human striving towards liberty and expression of free will cannot be stopped in the long run by such tyrannical measures,” the statement reads.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the demonstrators will be soon released.
