Tbilisi Mayor: ‘Oligarchs will be Wiped Out’

Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava reiterated on March 19 that opposition MP Valery Gelashvili’s construction firm Evra was behind fire which destroyed one of the schools in Tbilisi on March 18. MP Gelashvili, whom Ugulava described as “oligarch,” said he will sue the Tbilisi Mayor over libel.

“He can sue me wherever he wants – either in the court or on Mars. The truth will win. These oligarchs will be wiped out once and forever and Georgian politics will never be again a subject of their manipulations and blackmail,” Ugulava said on March 19.

Tbilisi Mayor and Education Minister Kakha Lomaia visited on March 19 the school destroyed by fire. They said that a new school will be built, which will be financed from the Presidential Fund.
