Government Considers Lifting State of Emergency in Adjara
The Government could contain spread of bird flu, which paves the way for lifting state of emergency in the bird flu affected Khelvachauri district of Adjara Autonomous Republic, Agriculture Minister Mikheil Svimonishvili said on March 8.
“The government has undertaken all the necessary measures to prevent spread of H5N2 virus and we think that the government will request the President to appeal the Parliament to cancel state of emergency in Khelvachauri district by the end of this week,” Svimonishvili told reporters.
Parliament approved the President’s decree on imposing of state of emergency for a seven-month period in the Khelvachauri district on February 28.
