Tbilisi Discusses Moscow’s Proposal over JCC Session Venue

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava said on March 3 that the Georgian side will discuss a proposal made by Valery Kenyaikin, the Russian chief negotiator over the South Ossetian conflict, regarding the holding of a session of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia’s North Ossetia, or Tskhinvali, capital of breakaway South Ossetian capital.

Prior to this proposal, Giorgi Khaindrava offered to hold a session of the JCC in Tbilisi, however this proposal was rejected by the South Ossetian side.

“It is not decisive for us where the JCC session will be held. The most important thing is to continue the process [of negotiations],” Giorgi Khaindrava told Civil Georgia on March 3.

He said that the Georgian side will notify the JCC co-chairmen about its position in the few days.
