The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Lithuanian Ambassador to Russia Rimantas Sidlauskas on February 27 to express protest regarding a recent statement by the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry about Russian-Georgian relations.

The Russian Foreign Ministry described this statement by Lithuania as “inadmissible interference” in Russo-Georgian relations.

In the statement, issued on February 22, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry supported Georgia’s initiative to internationalize the peacekeeping operation in the South Ossetian conflict zone and called on Russia “to stop unfriendly actions” against Georgia.
