Lavrov: Tbilisi’s Actions Against Peacekeepers Goes Beyond all Bounds
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on February 15 that the Georgian authorities’ attitude towards the Russian peacekeepers stationed in the South Ossetian and Abkhaz conflict zone “goes beyond all bounds.”
“The facts are ignored and falsified [by the Georgian side], regular provocations take place against our peacekeepers by violating the existing agreements. They [the Georgian side] started recently to demand visas from [the peacekeepers] as well,” Lavrov told reporters.
He said that these are attempts by the Georgian authorities to blame the Russian side for the Georgian authorities’ own “failure to establish direct dialogue” with the South Ossetian leadership.
