Russia Restarts Gas supply to Georgia

Russia resumed gas supply to Georgia on January 29 after restoration of the blown up main pipeline in North Ossetia was over, Russia?s Gazprom subsidiary gas transportation company KavkazTransGaz announced.

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli confirmed on Sunday that Russian gas has already reached Georgia, in particular Kazbegi high-mountainous district near border with Russia.

Giorgi Gvichiani, top executive of the TbilGazi, gas distributing company in Tbilisi, said that the Russian gas will reach the Georgian capital at 4 pm local time on Sunday.

?After this we will start gas supply to consumers in Tbilisi gradually? But on Sunday gas supply will be resumed to only several districts,? Gvichiani said, adding that because of technical reasons gas will only be resumed to all consumers in Tbilisi starting from early on Monday.

Answering the question when gas supply will be resumed to Russian Embassy in Tbilisi and to the office of Gazprom?s subsidiary Gazexport Gvichiani said that ?on the first stage it will be a priority to supply gas to those 2800 residential apartments in Tbilisi, which currently are without gas and than to other facilities.?
