Tbilisi Cuts Gas to Russian Embassy, Gazexport Company

Georgian authorities will cut off gas supply to Russia?s Embassy in Tbilisi and to the office of Russian Gazprom?s subsidiary Gazexport also in Tbilisi, the capital city Mayor Gigi Ugulava said on January 28.

?They are directly to blame for energy blockade of Georgia,? Ugulava said.

He also said that it is better to provide gas to two residential apartments in Tbilisi rather than to Russian Embassy and Gazexport?s office.

?They anyway have other means of heating,? he added.

The Gazprom?s subsidiary Gazexport is contracted to supply gas to Georgia. Gas supply was cut off to Georgia after two pipelines were blown up in Russia?s North Ossetian republic.

Meanwhile, Georgian media sources reported that the Georgian gas transportation company was informed by the Russian side that it will be able to restore gas supply to Georgia on Sunday.
