Georgia will not Pull Out from CIS

The Georgian government decided not to withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Levan Choladze said after a session of the cabinet on January 25.

?We have thoroughly discussed this issue from the economic, social as well as political point of view and I want to inform you that the Georgian authorities have decided not to withdraw from the CIS,? Choladze said.

The parliamentary opposition has recently demanded from the authorities to pull out from the organization, but parliamentarians from the ruling National Movement party argued that the issue needed a detailed consideration to avoid any grave political and economic consequences in case of withdrawal from the CIS.
