Tskhinvali Says Tbilisi Propagates War
The South Ossetian side protested Tbilisi?s possible demand that Russian troops withdraw from the South Ossetian conflict zone, accusing the Georgian side of a “direct propaganda of war.”
According to a resolution passed by the Georgian Parliament on October 10, 2005, the government should report to the Parliament by February 10, 2006 about the peace process in the South Ossetian conflict zone.
If the Parliament decides that no progress has been made, the lawmakers will demand that the peacekeepers begin withdrawing from February 15, 2006. Parliamentary hearings will reportedly take place on February 7.
The South Ossetian side claims that none of the conflicting sides can solve the issue of a pullout of peacekeeping troops unilaterally.
?Any unilateral demand for the withdrawal of peacekeeping troops is illegal and contradicts previously signed agreements … Withdrawal of peacekeeping troops will lead us towards…resumption of hostilities,? reads the statement issued by the the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee on January 18.
