Saakashvili Focuses on Healthcare, Education Programs
President Saakashvili said at a government session on January 18 that the healthcare and education fields are the key priorities of the national presidential program, according to which rehabilitation and equipment of healthcare and education facilities should be completed by 2009 ? the year when the Presiden’t first term expires.
?We should rank with other normal European countries in the fields of education and healthcare,? the Georgian President said.
?Currently, the situation in the healthcare system is extremely grave, but within the next three years we should turn it into a modern healthcare system… This is quite possible,? Saakashvili said.
The Georgian President also noted that education is the most prestigious field. ?By 2009 we should not have a single school in Georgia without computers, modern equipment and a [central] heating system,? he added.
