Russian Diplomat Speaks of Upcoming JCC Session
Russian chief negotiator for the South Ossetian conflict Valery Kenyaikin said on Friday there is no threat that a session of the Joint Control Commission, scheduled for January 18-20, will be thwarted, despite the fact that there are some controversies about the venue of the talks.
?Now we are trying to solve an issue about a venue for the meeting? It is possible that the session will be held in Vladikavkaz [Russia?s North Ossetian Republic],? Kenyaikin told RIA Novosti news agency on January 13.
The Georgian side has proposed that the JCC session be held in Tbilisi, but the South Ossetian side declined, citing security reasons.
The Russian diplomat also said that a major issue which is planned to be discussed during the upcoming JCC session will be ?those future steps which can be undertaken by the JCC towards the development of a joint program of action over resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.?
