EU Grants Preferences to Georgia
The European Commission (EC) granted on December 21 important preferences, including duty and quota free access, to an additional 15 vulnerable developing countries, including Georgia, that have implemented sustainable development and good governance policies, the European Commission reported.
In order to receive these preferences, countries must have ratified and implemented key international conventions relating to core political, human and labor rights.
The EU Generalized System of Preferences is the system of preferential trading arrangements through which the European Union extends preferential access to its markets to developing countries and economies in transition.
