Opposition Wants Investigation into MPs’ Fist-Fight
The opposition Democratic Front parliamentary faction appealed General Prosecutor Zurab Adeishvili on Sunday to investigate an incident in the Tbilisi City Hall, which involved a first-fight between members of the Tbilisi City Council – Sakrebulo – and parliamentarians from the opposition and ruling National Movement parties on December 2.
“This was a well-planned attack against the opposition parliamentarians,” MP Davit Zurabishvili, leader of the Democratic Front faction, said at a news conference on December 4.
The Democratic Front faction also appealed Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze with the request to condemn this incident.
But at a news conference on Sunday a member of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo from the ruling party Davit Ioseliani denied that the incident was planned in advance and blamed the opposition parliamentarians for provoking this first-fight in the City Hall.
