Georgian PM, Gazprom Chief Discuss Cooperation
Visiting Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli and Chairman of the Russian energy giant Gazprom Alexei Miller discussed issue of gas supply to Georgia, transit of Russian gas via Georgia, as well as cooperation between the Gazprom and energy companies in Georgia in Moscow on November 24.
In a press release issued on November 24, Gazprom said that an agreement was reached about ?supply and transit of gas in 2006 on the conditions corresponding to international norms.? But the press release does not specify details of the deal – specifically the price Georgia will have to pay for gas starting from 2006.
Earlier, Gazprom announced plans to increase gas prices for Georgia from the current USD 63 to USD 110 per 1000 cubic meters.
Alexei Miller and Zurab Nogaideli have also reached an agreement to set up a joint Russo-Georgian venture ?for exploration and development of Georgia?s gas transportation system,? according to Gazprom?s press release.
