Shida Kartli Police Chief Resigns

Vladimer Jugeli, Chief of Police in Shida Kartli, the region bordering with breakaway South Ossetia, filed his resignation on November 15. Devi Chelidze, former Chief of the Police department of the Vake district of the capital Tbilisi, will replace Jugeli.
 
Reportedly, Vladimir Jugeli will take over a position at the Interior Ministry?s department for combating organized crime.
 
Vladimer Jugeli was appointed chief of the Shida Kartli regional police in March, 2005 when the top leadership of the police was reshuffled there after allegations of patronizing smuggling.
