Georgian MFA Condemns Gali Shooting
The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over the recent shooting in the village of Chuburkhinji in the Georgian-populated Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia on November 13, which left one man dead and another injured.
?The separatist authorities of Abkhazia and its so-called ‘law enforcement’ agencies are deliberately terrorizing the ethnic Georgian population, aiming to expel them from the region,? the statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry on November 14 reads.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry has numerously accused Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in the Abkhaz conflict zone of inaction and ?complete inertness? regarding the violations of human rights in the Gali district.
?With regard to the recent developments in the region, the Georgian Foreign Ministry once again calls on the world community to give a relevant assessment of the activities of the separatist authorities and take relevant measures to prevent the instigating of armed confrontation in the region,? the statement reads.
