Khaindrava Slams JCC after Talks in Moscow

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava said at a news conference in Moscow that the Georgian side does not find it meaningful to continue working over the South Ossetian conflict resolution within the frames of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC), RIA Novosti news agency reported.

?We need concrete results, instead of a frozen situation,? Khaindrava said after the session of the JCC on October 25.

?The agreements achieved during 16 meetings gave a real possibility for conflict resolution. But, unfortunately, these agreements remain unfulfilled,? Khaindrava said.

He said that out of 16 agreements signed by the JCC members ? the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides -recently, 10 referred to the necessity of demilitarizing the conflict zone; however this has not happened.

?The peacekeeping process has come to a standstill,? he added.

He said that involvement of representatives from the OSCE and EU in the JCC format can revitalize the peace process. But both Tskhinvali and Moscow are against changing the current Russian-led negotiating format.

At the news conference Khaindrava accused Russia once again of supplying arms to Georgia?s secessionist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
