Georgia Allocates USD 445,000 to Prevent Bird Flu Threat
The Georgian government has allocated GEL 800,000 (USD 445,000) for measures to prevent the arrival of the bird flu virus in the country. No cases of bird flu virus have been detected yet in Georgia.
Georgia has already banned poultry import from Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia.
President Mikheil Saakashvili convened an emergency government session on October 14 to discuss the issue. ?The government will take all the measures to prevent the spread of bird flu to Georgia,? Saakashvili said at the government session.
