CEC Approves Final Vote Tally of MP By-Elections
The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved on October 11 the final vote tally of the October 1 by-elections in four single-mandate constituencies.
The approval of the vote tally of the fifth election district -Kobuleti, has been delayed as the result of a lawsuit, filed by the opposition Conservative Party, claiming that thousands of voters were deprived to cast their ballots because they were absent from the voter lists. In case the court turns down the Conservatives? appeal, Koba Khabazi, the ruling National Movement party?s MP nomination will be announced as the winner.
The CEC has confirmed a victory of National Movement?s nominations in other districts by approving vote tally of the four constituencies:
Isani constituency ? Bidzina Bregadze – 8,783 votes;
Batumi constituency ? Jemal Inaishvili ? 8,243 votes;
Shuakhevi constituency ? Elguja Makaradze ? 5,353 votes;
Tkibuli constituency – Pavle Kublashvili ? 9,306 votes.
According to the law, the CEC?s decision can be appealed within three days.
