Tbilisi Wants Tskhinvali to Hand Over Criminal Suspect
At a news briefing on October 4 Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili called on the South Ossetian law enforcers to hand over Ruslan Mamitov, who is suspected of opening fire in the Georgian village of Berula and injuring two local civilians on October 2.
The Georgian police arrested two other suspects – Alek Ikayev and Igor Zasayev. ?The third one ? Ruslan Mamitov – was able to escape and hid in Tskhinvali,? Merabishvili said.
?We want to request our Ossetian counterparts to hand over Mamitov, but I am sure that they will not do it, because Tskhinvali has become a nest for kidnappers, bandits and terrorists,? Merabishvili added.
On September 27, the Georgian Interior Minister requested that law enforcers in Tskhinvali hand over Mikheil Tskhovrebov, a resident of Tskhinvali, who is suspected by the Georgian police of trading in stolen cars.
