Saakashvili Comments on Tskhinvali Shelling Investigation

President Saakashvili said on September 24 that ?interesting details? are emerging as a result of an investigation to find out who opened mortar fire on the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on September 20, an act which resulted in the injury of ten people. 

?We have been cooperating with the OSCE very effectively in recent days in the investigation process [into the Tskhinvali shelling], I want to say that very interesting details are emerging,? Saakashvili said.

This investigation is being carried out by Joint Peacekeeping Forces, involving Georgian, Russian and North Ossetian troops. The OSCE is acting as a monitoring during this investigative process. The OSCE has been briefed by the parties concerned regarding the investigation process.

?Why did we need to shell Tskhinvali? There is no reason for this. We are developing and want Ossetians to see this. We should entice them [Ossetians] to come here and see this,? Saakashvili said while speaking with reporters after opening several new sights in the town of Gori near the South Ossetian conflict zone.
