Georgia’s Envoy to CoE Appointed
Georgian Parliament approved Zurab Tchiaberashvili’s nomination as Georgia’s permanent representative to the Council of Europe (CoE) at the session on September 16.
Zurab Tchiaberashvili said while addressing lawmakers that pushing the issues related with the protection of human rights in Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia will be among his priorities.
Zurab Tchiaberashvili, 33, served as a Mayor of the capital city Tbilisi before July 12. Before taking over the Mayor’s office last April, Tchiaberashvili was a Chairman of the Central Election Commission and served as a head of an election watchdog non-governmental organization International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED).
